Today’s lesson is about the bridge between your conscious and subconscious mind.
And you’ve probably guessed it, it’s your breath!
Your respiratory system is very unique in the sense that breath is controlled both consciously and subconsciously.
This is why the body still breathes when unconscious but can also change patterns with conscious thought.
Yes, there are other parts of the body that do this, such as blinking, but only breath directly affects the nervous system on a conscious and subconscious basis.
So, in a way, your breath is the bridge between 3 types of intelligences in your body:
The Conscious Mind
The Subconscious Mind
The Nervous System (including the Autonomic, Sympathetic, & Parasympathetic)
Okay…Now what?
Stress & Anxiety are deeply rooted in the subconscious mind and nervous system.
We can access and reprogram the subconscious mind and the nervous system through conscious connected breathing.
Yogi’s called this pranayama. Taoists called it qigong. Today, we call it Breathwork.
